From childhood metal roots to a rising debut.

Today we have the pleasure to have Amber N. here on Goathead.
GHR: Hi Amber N. Great to have you here. What inspired you to start writing music?
Amber N.: Great question! It may sound cliché, but truly my parents. I grew up with parents that were both metalheads and most of my childhood was spent not only rocking out to, but also learning to appreciate some of the greatest artists. That especially shows in my recent cover of “Like a Stone” by Audioslave. I vividly remember hearing that song playing in the car when I was like 8, and I was so moved by Chris Cornell’s angelic voice. I would say every song I write or cover is indirectly inspired by them in some way or another.

GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live at gigs and what was the most memorable experience you had?
Amber N.: Believe it or not, I’m still fairly new to performing live, so I don’t have many totally out there memorable moments yet. But my favorite performance so far was a cover of “Spiderwebs” by No Doubt. There was something magical in the air that night, and I felt completely carefree. I was running all over the place, fully in my element, and I could see the surprise on my friends and family’s faces as they watched me come alive up there.
GHR: How is your songwriting process structured?
Amber N.: My songwriting structure isn’t the most typical. I usually start by writing lyrics whether it’s a verse, bridge, or chorus before I even think about the instrumentals. Emotion plays a huge role in any music I create, and it’s really important to me that my lyrics honestly capture how I’m feeling in the moment. I am still a baby songwriter, so I’m especially grateful for the people I’ve worked with recently who help bring those ideas to life and shape them into a finished product.
GHR: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?

Amber N.: The thing that motivates me the most is connecting to others any way I can. There are countless artists I’ve listened to in my life that have helped me past the darkest of times with their music. I strive to be that same kind of outlet for others who may feel the way I once did or still do at times. If something I’ve experienced can inspire even one person, that is what I live for.
GHR: Could you share some insights into your next projects?
Amber N.: Absolutely! I am based in the Midwest, so I have been flying back and forth to LA to collaborate with fellow artists to make my first round of original music. The song I am working on is called “Recovery.” No set release date yet, but once it comes out, I’ll be excited for everyone to hear my debut into the rock scene!
Amber N is not just building a sound. She is building a world. One where music and fashion collide into a single form of self expression. Her alternative style moves in sync with the music she lives and breathes, shaping a visual identity that feels just as intentional as her lyrics. Through her blog series like “What I Would Wear to a Concert” and her OOTDs inspired by specific songs, she translates emotion into aesthetic. The goal is simple. Show up authentically. Let the music and the image speak as one.
