GHR: Hi Zachary, great to have you here. What inspired you to start writing music?

ZM: Thanks for having me. Music inspired my music! I've always loved the stuff, so having it go in makes me want to make some go out. For many years I tinkered with a few ideas on guitar, but it wasn’t until early 2021—when I was gifted a recording kit—that I began taking real steps forward. It was meant to be just for fun, but as I learned and experimented, I decided to become a musician. Having the right equipment at hand pushed me to explore and record, and it’s been a lot of fun ever since.
GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live and what was your most memorable moment?
ZM: I’ve actually never played live. Right now my focus is on what comes out of the studio and where it goes from there. I’ve had many fun and memorable moments recording, especially the first time I tried double-tracking guitars for a rock song. It’s something seasoned musicians probably take for granted, but when I first heard that fuller, wider sound, it blew my mind. Now it’s second nature, but that first time was unforgettable.
GHR: How is your songwriting process usually set around?
ZM: I usually write and record when the mood hits and I feel creative. A song might start as a quick phone memo and stay that way for hours—or years—until I’m ready to expand it. I don’t force anything. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and I’m drawn to ideas that hit emotionally. When I do record, I like to get it done in one or two sessions. If something moves me, I trust that others will feel it too.
GHR: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?
ZM: Honestly, I don’t fully know. I don’t think anyone can say exactly why some people have this instinct to create and share through music. But I can say I love music deeply, and it’s how I understand myself better—and how I let others understand me, too.
GHR: Could you share some insights into your next projects?
ZM: There’s another EP I have in mind… perhaps! But for now, I’m taking time to recover funds—it’s not cheap out there, both inside and outside the music world. There will be another release soon, though. Until then, I invite fans to enjoy my latest project, 5…4…3…2…1…, which dropped on October 3rd and has been getting great feedback.
