Today we have the pleasure to have Cavono on Goathead

GHR: Cavono, great to have you here. What does music mean to you?

Cavono: Oof, straight into it. Gosh, that’s a tough one… I guess the right word would be escape? I grew up listening to music from several different sides of the world. Only after discovering that the music my family was listening to wasn’t the only kind of music out there did I find my love for sound. It made my head race listening to all kinds of things, so I wanted to do the same for others.

GHR: What has been your favorite moment performing live?

Cavono: As of now, I’ve had great moments performing live. If I wasn’t so worried about burning my band out, I’d do it weekly. There was a time when I performed solo for a bit, then after getting a band together, it became a whole different vibe. Even more so visually—I love seeing the crowd dance and truly engage in something we put together.

I think my favorite experience at a gig, though, was when I was still solo and a fresh fish in the water. I got the chance to perform at an event down here in Fort Worth, Texas, called Friday On The Green. Up until then, I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to continue doing music, but the moment I saw the little ones and their parents bobbing to my sound, everything changed.

GHR: How do you usually approach songwriting?

Cavono: That differs based on the music. Sometimes words don’t come to me unless I’ve been motivated enough by the track itself. Other times, I’ll witness an event—someone in the world, at the bars, even on TV—and lyrics just come out. At that point, my goal is to create or find the perfect partner for the words. Lately, my most comfortable zone has been stumbling across a good sound and listening to it over and over again to see if the vibe makes me want to write to it.

GHR: What inspires you to keep creating?

Cavono: People. I’m a firm believer in there’s something for everyone. There’s a lot of things I like and don’t like, and I assume everyone is that way, but I’m constantly pushed to create something for all ears.

Someone once told me that I won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if I work hard on what I’m trying to do and what I want to say, then out of an album of 13 songs, a listener will at least like one. That stuck with me, and I’m absolutely okay with that.

GHR: What’s next for you?

Cavono: My new song Voices hits platforms on March 16th, 2025. As much as I want to keep listening to it to find flaws, I fall back on what I said earlier—I can only do so much. I just hope whoever’s out there loves it as much as I do. Going forward, my plan is to try my hand at an EP with the band. The goal is to get it as authentic and raw as possible while keeping the same sounds the crowd has always heard. I want to have it done before the end of 2025.
