Today we have the pleasure to have Michy On Goathead
GHR: Hi Michy it is great to have you here. What inspired you to start writing music?
Michy: Thanks for having me. I’ve been singing my whole life, but two years ago I started having serious problems with my voice, to the point where I thought I might never be able to sing again. Things that had always come naturally suddenly felt impossible. I felt trapped and silenced, like I was losing a piece of my identity. I needed a creative outlet, so I thought if I couldn’t sing, maybe I could write songs. My voice slowly started healing, and somehow I was also able to start recording those songs. I couldn’t be more grateful.
GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live and your most memorable moment on stage?
Michy: This year I had the absolute pleasure of performing my song “Can’t Explain” at two different events for Radio Nostalgia, a popular radio station from Tuscany, where I’m from. Seeing the crowd react positively to a song they might not have heard before was thrilling.

GHR: How is your songwriting process structured?
Michy: I’m a very visual person. When I write a song, I always have a visual counterpart in mind: a color, a place, a vibe. I usually start with the melody and then build the lyrics around the visual story. It’s not always based on personal experience. For example, with “Business Calls,” my first single, I’ve never had an office fling, but it was fun to imagine what that would be like.
GHR: What motivates you to create music and explore different themes through your songs?
Michy: My music is simply how my soul pours out. It’s not always serious. I’m a funny person, I love life, and I probably come across as a bit silly, so I enjoy writing sarcastic or playful songs, but there’s always something deeper underneath. With my latest song, “On My Mind,” I went fully sentimental for the first time. It felt very vulnerable and incredibly beautiful.
GHR: Could you share some insights into your upcoming projects?
Michy:I just dropped my latest single, “On My Mind,” and it’s out now on all streaming platforms. Even though we’re still deep in winter, I live for summer vibes and I’m already working on my next summer track. I can’t wait for people to stream it at golden hour on the beach.
