GHR: Great to have you here. What inspired you to start writing music?

TK Tha Product: I started writing music when I was 16 years old and at the time I was very influenced by hip hop music. I identified with artists like Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Bone Thugs, Tupac, and a bunch of others that I can keep on naming.

I went on and off over the years. I recently started again, randomly, feeling like I never lived up to my potential. Mainly because of financial strains that don’t exist now. Also because of poor choices and a negative lifestyle.

GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live? What has been the most memorable part of performing for you?

TK Tha Product: I enjoy performing. It’s fun and at the same time it’s an opportunity to challenge myself as an artist. Performing is the rawest way and most effective way to reach people. I’m way past getting nervous so I go up there and challenge myself to find better ways to reach people.

GHR: What does your songwriting process usually look like?

TK Tha Product: I have a pretty standard format and it almost always occurs after I create an instrumental. It’s 16 bars and an 8 bar hook.

I can go for punchlines, I can try to over complicate the craft in terms of wordplay and rhyme. There’s a lot of ways to flex as an artist. I can do it through writing or pronunciation, etc. There’s no limits or definitive “right” answers. I go with whatever I’m feeling at the moment.

GHR: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?

TK Tha Product: I’m basically trying to create a story of my life or things I have seen. It can be something I overcame, something that I struggled with, something I grew up around, it could be a story I witnessed, anything really.

I just want to put the experience and emotions associated with it in song for people to hear.

GHR: Could you share some insight into your next projects and what listeners can expect from TK Tha Product?

TK Tha Product: I look forward to mixing it up a little bit. I would like to see at least one collab with a singer. I would like to make a hip-hop style song that can be played in the club and have a hook with a singer specifically.

Then maybe make a song for my two boys. It will be a little on the softer, more emotional side. But after that, a handful of tracks people should expect from TK Tha Product.
