Zhake (Jake Zhenya Mitchell) returns with his latest single, “Other You,” a track that dives headfirst into the war between light and shadow within the self. Written, produced, tracked, mixed, and mastered entirely by Zhake, the song is a pure reflection of his creative independence and emotional rawness.

“Other You” begins with the haunting refrain “You know that you can’t do it without me”—an intrusive thought that refuses to leave. Throughout the track, Zhake stages an intense dialogue between his better self and his darker impulses. His lyrics sting with brutal honesty, mocking his complacency while exposing the weight of inner conflict: lines like “Racing yourself on a flat tired bike, the other you is in a car going hi” capture both futility and pressure with sharp imagery.

The production mirrors the theme—tense, layered, and unrelenting. Zhake lets his voice carry the story, shifting between aggression and reflection as he battles the grip of anger and negativity. Yet the song isn’t without hope. Amid the chaos, he admits, “Maybe I could be doing it right, I know I got angels watching on my side,” suggesting resilience and the possibility of growth even while wrestling with destructive patterns.

“Other You” is as much therapy as it is performance—a raw glimpse into the constant tug-of-war between self-doubt and self-belief. It’s music that doesn’t just entertain; it confronts.
