Today we have the pleasure to have Massimo on Goathead

GHR: What inspired you to start writing music?

Massimo: I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of creating something that could actually move people. I listen to a lot of The Beatles, Mac DeMarco, MGMT, and Men I Trust, and their music really stuck with me. At some point I just thought, “I want to do that for other people.”

GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live at gigs and what was the most memorable experience you had?

Massimo: Truthfully, I haven’t performed live yet, but it’s definitely something I want to do as I grow musically. There’s a certain energy and connection that comes with live music that’s hard to replicate anywhere else, and I’m really looking forward to experiencing that when the time’s right.

GHR: How is your process of songwriting set around?

ree

Massimo: For me, there’s not too much structure to it. I usually just mess around on my guitar until I find a chord progression that feels right. Once I have that, I start playing around with melodies. The hardest part is usually writing lyrics and figuring out what I want the song to be about — but I feel like that’s something that should come naturally.

GHR: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?

Massimo: What really motivates me to create music is the idea of expression and connection. Sometimes it’s hard to put certain feelings or experiences into words, and music gives me a way to do that. I’m still early in the process, but I want my songs to capture real emotions — whether that’s uncertainty, nostalgia, or just the weird in-between moments of life. If people can hear that and feel a bit understood, that’s what makes it worth creating.

GHR: Could you share some insights into your next projects?

ree

Massimo: I’m currently working on an EP that I’m really excited about. You can expect a similar vibe to Garden Gnome, but I want to take it a step further — get more experimental while still keeping it familiar enough for people to come back to. The goal is to create something that feels fresh but still has that comforting, everyday listenability.
