Today we have the pleasure to have Meghan on Goathead

GH: Hey Meghan, great to have you here. What inspired you to start writing music?

MY: Thanks for having me. I’ve been part of the metal scene in Davao City since I was 15, starting as a guitarist. My inspiration comes from the genre’s technicality and the raw energy of our local community. After nearly a decade on strings, I felt the need for something more visceral. Learning to scream became the natural evolution, translating that same intensity into a direct vocal form.

GH: Can you tell us about performing live and your most memorable experience?

MY: Live performance has been my reality for over 8 years. Every gig is memorable because of the trust and commitment within Trashbunk. We’re a Nu-Metal/Grunge hybrid formed by some of Davao’s loudest misfits. I’m currently experimenting with adding my own vocal layers and screams. It’s a learning process, but the band’s support makes every show feel authentic and high-energy.

GH: How is your songwriting process structured?

MY: It usually begins with a rhythmic or melodic riff. The guitarist in me is always active. We build atmosphere first, focusing on tension and release. In Trashbunk, we avoid over-polishing. We lean into groove riffs, unhinged energy, and melodies that cut through distortion. The process feels cathartic rather than forced.

GH: What motivates you to create music and address deeper themes?

MY: Metal is the ultimate outlet for catharsis. We channel complex, heavy emotions into something powerful and audible. It’s about confronting the darker parts of the human experience and giving a voice to what usually stays buried.

GH: Could you share insights into your next projects?

MY: Our priority is pushing Trashbunk forward. We’ve grown from a side-project into a focused unit. We’re writing and recording new material that leans heavier and grittier. Personally, I’m developing my vocal range to add more texture. Expect a raw, unfiltered evolution that stays true to our underground Davao roots while elevating the production and energy.
